​​What We Know / Have Learned About Millie

​

• Millie is a spayed 19-month-old female Vizsla, originally rescued and adopted back in early March.  

• Since then, she has been spayed of 2026; a laparoscopic spay was performed on June 17th 2026 and she healed beautifully.

• She's a happy, loving well-adjusted little girl.

Millie leads a full life in Toronto, Ontario. 

 

• She is enrolled at Unleashed in the City, Academy Dog Day School 3/4 days a week in support in her training.  She loves school and the certified team of trainers. She learns so quickly and enjoys the daily outings. This along with dedicated at home guidance and exercise, (mental and physical), Millie has really developed and matured into a wonderful little Vizsla girl with good manners.

• Her recall is typical for a teenage Vizsla, improving every week.

• Millie really wants to please; her impulse control is terrific, along with settle, drop it, and all the cute tricks that dog can do.

• She is also great with loose leash walking.

• She is just starting small activities to learn agility as a fun experience for her.

• Millie is a different dog from when she was originally rescued on March 2, 2026 - now so Joyful, loving, obedient, and calm and the sweetest Vizsla you could want.

 

Millie is:

• Up-to-date with all her vaccines.

• On Simparica Trio preventatives (for ticks, fleas, heartworm, and intestinal worms) with sufficient supply to last until her next full exam in March of 2027.

• Crate trained, although currently it is not in practice in her current home.

• House trained and knows to ring a set of bells to communicate when she needs to go outside to eliminate.

Millie:

• Has no hang ups or phobias, zero reactivity to bikes, cars, skateboards, scooters, people, etc.  No biting ever, plays well with other dogs and great with kids and all humans. 

• Rarely barks, only when she wants to play with another dog, but does not bark in the home.

• Is completely comfortable in city life as well the country. 

• Is active;  a great problem solver, and a solid nighttime sleeper. Plus, a super cuddle bug, she loves a hug.

• Has a lovely disposition and is a favourite at school and in her neighbourhood.

• Millie’s owner is moving to a different country and will be travelling extensively for a new job.  Unfortunately, this will not be fair for Millie, and the owner regrettably needs to rehome her beloved Vizsla.

• Soon after being adopted, Millie had a seizure.

• She had the full workup of tests to rule out anything else and through the process of elimination, the diagnosis has been determined and she has been diagnosed with epilepsy.

• Through her CAT scan, she has a beautiful brain and her spinal tap revealed a healthy dog.

• There was a myriad of other test too long to list, all to determine the epilepsy diagnosis. 

• Since then, she has had 2 other seizures but is now on an excellent protocol and has been seizure free for 7 weeks. Her epilepsy is really well managed.

​​Millie's Ideal Home

• Experienced Vizsla or sporting dog owners

• A home with 2 adults to help support her ongoing medication schedule, ideally retired or one adult working from home.

• Kids and other dogs are also fine - Millie is good with them.

• Daily exercise, along with continued obedience / sports training

Millie will come with 3+months of her medications, the Simpatico Trio supply, her Bowser beds, food plus a plethora of other dog accoutrements like poop bags, leash, collars and harnesses, toys.

 

She currently wears a Fi series 3 tracking collar and the owner can see about transferring the balance of the subscription to the new owners if they would like to continue using. It great for tracking activity, naps etc.

 

​​The owner is a VSO member and the VSO is assisting her to find a new home for Millie by mid September 2026 when the owner must relocate.  The owner has invested so much time, energy and resources into dearest Millie to support her development into an enchanting little Vizsla.  This is a very painful decision for the owner but we are hopeful someone in the Vizsla community will fall in love with Millie and provide a loving and caring home for her.
