I knew from the the time I was three years old that i would grow up to do something with dogs or horses. Fortunately for me that came to pass. I started showing dogs in 1960 with my own breed of basenjis. The breed happened to me quite by accident. However, as time went on and other people asked me to show their dogs I realized my forte was in presentation so I was a professional handler until 1990 making champions of dogs of 64 different breeds and group Best in Show wins on 34 of those breeds.

On one of my yearly trips to British Columbia to summer shows I spotted a couple with a red dog that was quite striking. I didn’t know anything about the breed but I knew this had to be a good one. He was a Canadian bred Vizsla that ended up coming home with me to be shown. He was the first Vizsla to ever go Best in Show and became a very special part of my heart. His name you ask, Am. Can. Mex. Ch Napkelte Vadaz Dalos otherwise known as Danny, the first of his breed to ever go BIS. He garnered BIS in all three countries with a total of 5 BIS through 1970/1971. As a handler I was fortunate enough to show many BIS dogs but I believe Danny was the best dog I was ever privileged to show.

I started judging in 1990 and was asked to judge the Vizsla National Specialty a number of years ago with an entry of over 400. It was a thrill as this breed is so very special to me. I am approved in the United States to judge Sporting, Hound, Toy and Terrier groups as well as a few Non Sporting breeds and BIS.

It is my honor to be asked to do your Specialty in Canada.

I was raised in a hunting home, and as long as I can remember, my father always had Hounds. Shortly after we were married, I acquired a Beagle, and became involved with Beagle Field Trials, which has spanned over forty years. My best friend and partner, Pat also loves dogs and she was the driving force behind us getting into German Shorthaired Pointers. We acquired our first German Shorthaired Pointer puppy in 1983. We had our first litter in 1987, with guidance from Dale and Sue Buckler (Sunnyfield Kennel, Michigan). We kept a Show puppy bitch from that litter.

From our second litter born in 1991, Whisperfield Kennel produced the #1 Shorthair in Canada in 1993, “Can/Am BIS/BISS CH Whisperfield Coffee Colada, JH”. We strive to breed for both Show and Field Qualities. We work hard to see that all of our puppies are located with appropriate caring families first and foremost.

Over the years, Whisperfield Kennel has produced top-ranked German Shorthaired Pointers, including several Puppy Group Winners, Best Puppy in Show Winners, Group Winners, Speciality show winners in Canada and the US, several Best in Show German Shorthaired Pointers, plus a multitude of Field Titled, Obedience Titled, and just recently, a Tracking Titled dog. The majority of our Champions finish from the Bred By Exhibitor class that shows we are on the right track, as well we are very proud of the accomplishments of our dogs.

We have “tried” to slow down somewhat over the last few years, but still enjoy competing in the ring and field with our home raised GSPs.

I am honoured to be asked to judge the Viszla sweeps
